Get Involved

There are many ways to get involved with Freedom 7 APT to support the school, students, teachers and staff.  Everyone is in a different situation — some of us have time to donate, others have financial resources.  We all do our small part to make a difference

Who we are

Our parent-teacher organization (Freedom 7 APT) is made up of dedicated, hard-working, positive Freedom 7 families. F7 APT is you! The organization is open to all F7 parents and teachers and we welcome everyone’s participation. There are many ways to be involved in the APT and we are always seeking volunteers.

F7 APT puts together a number of fun events and programs throughout the school year. Several are fundraising events and others are primarily FUNraising, designed to bring our school community together and give every F7 student an engaging school experience:

3. Read-A-Thon

4. Jog-A-Thon

WHat WE've accomplished

Outdoor Improvements

F7 APT has funded track resurfacing, 3 shade structures, picnic/outdoor tables and bicycle racks made from recyclable plastics.  Both playgrounds on site were also purchased by the APT shortly after Freedom 7 opened and will need replacement in the next 1-3 years.

Technology Purchases

In 2018, your APT organization funded the purchase of an additional 102 laptops and 6 mobile charging carts for our school. These computers are improving the educational experience of our students & feedback from our teachers is overwhelmingly positive. Our school is now on a 1:1 ratio of computers to students for 2nd grade through 6th grade!

International Baccalaureate Program

Freedom 7 Elementary’s IB program and continued accreditation are funded entirely by Freedom 7 APT.  For the 2018-2019 school year, over 25% of our annual budget funded the IB program and required teacher training.

Educational Enrichment

Many of the resources required for our school’s academic success are not funded by the Brevard County School District or the state of Florida, and are organized and funded through Freedom 7 APT. Every year, F7 APT spends approximately $10,000 purchasing technology and educational programs and materials for the classrooms

APT PROGRAMS AND EVENTS

Freedom 7 APT offers a variety of programs, activities and events for Freedom 7 students and families. Keep in mind, most of these events were not held for the 20-21 school year due to COVID-19 restrictions. However, as our lives gradually return to some sense of normalcy, we hope to revive these events in future years. See below for more information on what our volunteers are involved with. Questions about an event or interested in volunteering? Email us at freedom7apt@gmail.com, we're always happy to hear from you!

Freedom 7 APT Programs & Events (listed alphabetically)

Art Fundraiser – We will be partnering with Artsonia this year to help support our school and your child’s creativity.  In the Fall the students work with Ms. Melanie who will help them express their creativity artistically. This work of art can be shared with your friends and family through items purchased through Artsonia.  Freedom 7 APT will receive a percentage of all purchases made.  Check out available items at https://www.artsonia.com/gifts/products/

Boo Hoo/Woo Hoo Breakfast – Kick off the start of the school year by attending our Welcome Back Breakfast the morning of the first day of school for Kindergarteners. This event provides an excellent opportunity to get a sense of the wide variety of volunteer activities available at Freedom 7. You’ll have an opportunity to meet fellow APT Volunteers & learn a bit about our organization, all while enjoying a free breakfast on us. Occurs at 9 AM in the café on the 1st school day for Kindergarteners.

Book Fair – This week long event helps stimulate a lifetime love of reading for all of our students.  Volunteers go all out decorating the CFI making it a themed marketplace.  Books for all reading levels can be purchased and even fun prizes too.  eWallets can be set up to help your child learn valuable lessons about spending as well!

Buddy Breakfasts – We've transitioned our fall "Breakfast with Dad" and spring "Breakfast with Mom" events to be a bit more inclusive of all types of families. We’d like to welcome any 1 adult per family to share breakfast with your student(s) in the Freedom Café. Again, this is limited to 1 adult per family simply due to space limitations. This event is held twice that week to be sure that everyone gets a chance to attend.

End of Year/Pool Party – What better way to kick off summer than with a pool party? Held at the Cocoa Beach Aquatic Center students and families enjoy an afternoon of water fun. With a splash pad, water slide and diving boards, it is a family paradise. There is an end of year raffle for fun prizes and concessions are available for purchase (concessions are run by 5th grade parents & all proceeds support the following year’s moving-on activities for their grade-level).

Field Day – Lets play outside!  Coach Burr orchestrates a wonderful day of play for the entire school. K-3 events are typically held in the morning and grades 4-6 in the afternoon.  Who will win the tug of war battle this year?  Teachers or students?

NEW for 2019-2020: Father/Daughter Dance will now be a *Sweetheart Dance* - How has this changed?  Students may bring the VIP in their life (1 adult per family) and dance the night away. APT has secured a new location for this event and we're really excited about it. We hope to see you there for a magical evening! Keep an eye out for more details. And thank you to parents for their suggestions on APT's Year-End Survey for encouraging this change!

Auction Night Event – AKA Parent night out!  This year's event will be a bit more casual & a lot more fun at Florida Beer in Cape Canaveral. Join your Freedom 7 APT, teachers and staff for a fun night out for adults only.  Play table blackjack, roulette or take a spin or two at the Wheel of Fortune!  Live Auction items like Principal for the Day or your own parking spot for the next school year could be won too!  Come join the fun and support our school.

Holiday Breakfast – Held during our December APT meeting, enjoy some fun treats while we look forward to the upcoming holiday break. Light breakfast is provided to say thanks for all your support & celebrate reaching the half-way point in the school year! Used uniforms are available for parents who need to stock up.

International Festival – This is our biggest on campus event of the year! See your student in action as they walk you through booths at our world tour.  Each grade level will have booths that are run by students to showcase their unit of inquiry.  Watch your child shine as they demonstrate what they have learned so far this year.  There will also be food and bounce houses and a climbing wall for families to enjoy. Want to jump start your volunteer hours? Contact Freedom 7 APT at freedom7apt@gmail.com

Jog-A-Thon – We can’t just exercise our minds, the body needs it too!  Encourage your student to run as many laps as they can by donating to their pledge sheet.  A high-energy, fun-filled event that leave the kids more focused.  Prizes are awarded to the students and classes for their hard work. Our JAT coordinator for 2019-2020 is Abby Cognetti. Feel free to contact Abby at abby.cognetti@gmail.com

with questions or to volunteer during our JAT event.

VIP Day!  - Students bring the Very Important Person in their life out to enjoy a day together!  Explore the zoo together or maybe a day bowling.  Watch the APT website and Newsletter for details as this event gets planned. Want to help coordinate this event?  Reach out to us at freedom7apt@gmail.com

Parent Night/Club Expo* – On an evening in late August, parents are asked to join teachers to get a sneak peek at what is planned for their student’s school year.  Teachers will give two identical 45-min presentations (one at 5 PM and one at 6 PM). Parents are asked to attend 1 session. Before or after your 1st session, be sure to stop by the Café where the APT will have info on extracurricular opportunities available for your students.  Robotics Club, Mileage Club, Coding, Maker Space, Future Problems Solvers, Odyssey of the Mind, Book Bash and more will all have information and sign-ups available at the Expo!  *This event is geared towards parents only.

Patriots Day – This event debuted in 2019 with our new principal Mrs. Lott.  She looked into our school history and found our school previously hosted a Patriot’s Day celebration to honor members of the community who have helped support our school.  Last year, 7 community members were honored on this on campus event.  Students wrote speeches of gratitude and handed out awards to honorees.

Penny Wars –is a fundraiser where teams compete for the most points. Students/teachers/staff/families will bring in pennies and/or checks to place in their assigned jar for positive points. Silver coins and bills to decrease the amount of points in other jars.

Do you have spare change laying around?  Send it in with your student.  Join is the fun of this week long event.  Only have silver coins? That’s ok, you can sabotage the other jars. Small change makes a big difference! Jars will be setup in the café daily from 8:30-9 AM for students to drop in their change or checks.

Read-A-Thon (RAT) – During Read-A-Thon, we focus on the joy of sitting back & enjoying a good book. Classes compete for prizes by logging reading minutes & the competition is fierce! When students read, everyone wins!

Spirit Nights – An opportunity to meet up and socialize with school friends off-campus while enjoying some fun, active play. Spirit Nights are always a student-favorite so bring your friends and play the night away! We typically have 1 Spirit Night per year but are always open to more if volunteers have ideas they’re willing to coordinate.  If you have an idea, get in touch and we will work with you to make it happen!  freedom7apt@gmail.com

Teacher/Staff Appreciation – Our teachers and staff are the very best! Throughout the school year we provide regular opportunities to show our teachers/staff just how much they mean to us. Watch the APT website and newsletters for details on these events.

Used Uniform Sales – Students grow sometimes faster than we can believe!  On registration day the APT will be selling used uniforms in the CFI (Library for new families). $5 each for tops and bottoms and $10 each for uniform outerwear (jackets/sweaters). Used uniforms are sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. They are also available at our Holiday Breakfast in early December which is a great time to re-stock your inventory. Items are available through-out the school year by contacting us directly via email (freedom7apt@gmail.com) or message us on Facebook.

Volunteer Breakfast – Typically held in May. This is the day we celebrate and thank all the volunteers that make Freedom 7 a truly amazing school!  The teachers and staff put on a breakfast to say thanks for all the support!
